How do you study for a math test?

Here are a few suggestions:

1. Work through problems!! The answers to all the odd numbered problems are in the back of the book. Do those and check your answer.

2. Don't spend a lot of time on the problems you know how to do, work on the ones that look difficult or confusing to you.

3. Check over your notes and the examples from class.

4. Stop by your math teacher's room before school or have the math resource teacher check your answers. That way you will have time to ask questions before the test.

5. Work with a friend on the assignment and compare your answers. Hopefully one of you knows how to do it correctly!!

i don't really study for a math test. all i really do is look over old assignments and notes. that's about it. there are no specific words to memorize, just an order of steps of how to do a problem or how to do a problem. that is what makes math so hard. you can't really study as you do in your other classes. you can just practice and practice and practice in order to prepare. nothing in written words, just numbers, variables and symbols. math is its own language.

My personal opinion is that the best way to study for a math test is to do the review homework the night before, it helps a lot on the test because it gives you all of the extra practice that you need. Also when I take notes i usually hightlight the important stuff with a different color, so that when I'm flipping through my notes I can easily find what i need to study.

I think the best way to study for a math test is to just do practice problems in the book. But only do the problems that confuse you and then look at the answers in the back of the book.

There really isn't anything special I like to do to study for a math test, either. In fact, I never had to study - at all - before this year. But the only thing I do is sort of create my own review and do a few of the more difficult problems from every section of the chapter (the odd ones). I'll even do some of the problems that I am confident on, because you can never have enough practice.

A good way to study for a math test is by doing 10-20 odd problems from the unit you are taking the test on. When you are finished check your answers from the back of your book to see if you did well.

I have a question to ask about alternative methods of studying for those who are not mathematically inclined. Is there any way besides constant practice of math problems to study, or are there more... interesting, possibly creative, methods? I just want to know if there are diverse ways to study for Algebra, because the old "do the odd problems in the book" don't seem to help me much on tests... I understand how to do the problems, but I always make stupid mistakes.

i don't really study for a math test. when i redo my assingments, if i got a bad grade it helps me understand that section. usually before the test i will just look over my notes to refresh my memorie.

Studying for math is simple. You can write out different types of problems that you might see on the test or you can look over the vocabulary that you might find during the test. If you really don't understand the concept for the math you're trying to study getting extra help is always a good way to go. Remember asking what may seem like stupid questions are easier to fix than trying to fix stupid mistakes.

One way i think to study for a math test is to have one of your parents write out a bunch of problems that we are working on in class. then do those problems. its like getting more practice. or you can just go over your notes you took and make sure that you understande what we are working on. you don't have to study for math like you study for social studies or science. just look over you notes and do some practice problems.

i think that the best way to study is right before you go to bed. You should study for 10-15 minutes. Studies have shown that if you study for a test right before you go to bed you will get a higher test score.

I think that the best way to study for a math test is to get homework like we are getting right now and doing the work at our own pace and level.

I have never studied for a math test, and I probably never will, so I probably am not the right person to tell you how to study for a test. I probably only study for abaout 5% of all my academic tests. If I would study for a test I probably would do problems in the book.

Math sticks out. It doesn't have a specific way to be studied for. Social Studies, Language Arts, Science, and other classes have multiple ways in which studying can be done. For math, I look over the assignments that we have done and pay special attention to those that I got wrong. Then I redo the ones I got wrong, and then i understand better. The thing i really make sure of is that i know the formulas. If there is going to be a lot of different formulas, then i make sure that i know the formulas- otherwise! It is possible to study for math.

When I need help on a math problem, I usually go to Mr. Frieder durring first hour study hall. But here is where saving your old assingments comes in handy. I go back and redo the old the problems I got wrong on my assignments and redo them.

I am kind of the same as alexis.
During Fresh Start the normal questions I need help with or have problms on. normally get directed to Mr.Frieder.He helps all of us out with math. And for certain tests, i do not technically study. I normally just do some random problems on the pages that we have done for homework for example, i will do some of the odds if we have to do evens for homework. I just basically look over the problems and homework assignments i have to reassure myself that i know what i am doing.

math is the only subject i find myself doing just fine not studying. everything is laid out for you and compared to language arts there are strict rules for everything. it is easier for me to just do they homework and try and understand it then than try to go back and study it before the test. this only confuses me.

you can study math by doin reviewing past homework assignments that we have done in class. Also, if you want more practice do odd numbered problems in the book and when you are finished you can check your answers.

Look over the assignments of the unit and review them. Work some of the problems again if you need to. Then ask for help if you don't get it.

All you have to do is do alot of the assignments over and over until you can do them all. Then i make up a question and do it then check my answer. It is really easy.

The way that i study for a math test is i just look over notes and old assignments. I mostly look at propblems that i got wrong or problems that i didn't understand and try to figure them out.

i agree with levi. i would study for a math test right before bed because when u are sleeping your mind is still thinking about it.

I dont study too much for math. Usually the assignments given to us in class are enough for me to get the hang off what is going on. When I feel that I do need to study I just look in the book and decide what problems I need to do and then do them. That usually works.

i feel that the best way to study for a math test is to do the review homework in class so that you have the answers, then do it the night before the test. The book gives you the odd answers so you are able to do all of the problems. You can't really "study" for a math test like any other subject because, all you have to memorize is order of steps. And completing the problem so that you get all the points. But through repatition in class, that makes memorizing the steps easier. Plus doing the review homework the night before again, inlists that you know everything that was covered in this chapter.

what i do, sounds crazy but, i cram. cramming is an easy way to get the info. in in time to complete a test. some people i think are able to cram and some are not. while some are efficient crammers, some people may spaz out and forget what they learned already.

I have discovered that doing what we are doing in math right now is an excellent form of studying, because it forces us to do more work than we normally would if Mr. Kasprzyk was instructing us. By "teaching" ourselves, we have to do much more repitition, which imprints what we are studying into our brains. Also, as soon as we finish with the homework, we are able to take the test right away, which means what we have learned is still fresh in our minds. It does no good to study a few days before the test and just leave it at that. It helps to be able to finish our last assignment, like I have done, hand it in, and immediately start taking the test.

I think Shannon is on to something! All of you need to expand your definition of "studying." When you work math problems, that IS a form of preparing (i.e. studying) for a test.

When I study, I study with Mr. Frieder and some of the kids in my fresh start class. We write questions of the board and solve problems for the whole class period.

Mitchell said...

When I study, I have someone place a few problems on a piece of paper and then solve them. If I get one wrong on any problem, I do more of that kind of problem.

you can study buy going over the stuf you dont no do some practice problems and check the answers in the back of the book
